Technical Requirements
All our courses require broadband Internet access (Min of 1mb recommended) and participants need to be familiar with using the internet, downloading and installing software.
Course Objectives
The course objective is for teachers to have a fuller understanding of how ICT can be integrated into their literacy activities and to provide them with the skill-set to implement some of these activities on their return to school.
Expected Outcomes
Participants will have a fuller understanding of how ICT can support literacy in their classrooms
- Participants will be aware of new definitions of literacy.
- Participants will be able to support pupils in creating digital stories.
- Participants will be able to support pupil reading through the use of ICT.
- Participants will explore how literacy activities can be effectively supported using the NCCA ICT Framework.
- Participants will be guided to a range of web resources and project ideas on integrating ICT and literacy activities.
Assessment Criteria
The course will provide a mix of participant reflection along with active creation of digital resources to assist pupils acquire literacy skills.
Course Duration
Delivered online, this course can be taken anytime, anywhere between Wednesday July 1st and Friday 28th August, 2009. You will be expected to engage meaningfully with course content for approximately 20 hours. The course will be facilitated by our team of TeachNet facilitators and at the end of the course we will provide you with a Continuous Professional Development Record.
